Duke Energy Norwood Station

We were awarded this project by Duke Energy to connect approximately 7,000 LF of 20” pipe to six different Duke systems through five control valve and metering skids. We installed six mainline valve assemblies and built a 100’ x 190’ building around the control valve assemblies. This project also included six open-cut road crossings on a busy street in Cincinnati, OH, which involved coordinated traffic control with the city and support from the local police department. Several of the tie-ins were in the street and required significant shoring provisions to protect workers and the public. There was also a large gas heater with its own 2,000 SF enclosure and a 900 SF climate-controlled storage building. We self-performed all of the mechanical work, excavation, and site support craft. The project had no recordable incidents or major injuries, and the welding crew completed almost 1,200 welds with only one repair.

The scope of work included:
» 5 control and metering skids
» ~7,000 LF of 20” pipe
» 6 open cut road crossing tie-ins
» (1) 100’ x 190’ regulation building with overhead crane
» (1) 40’ x 50’ heater building with gas line heater
» (1) 30’ x 30’ storage building
» 6 main line valves

Duke Energy Line 474

This project included installation of approximately two miles of new 12” transmission pipeline and included five road crossings and utility crossings with eight permanent and five temporary access roads including driveways to the stations. There were 50’ / 30’ permanent easements and 25’ / 30’ temporary easements.

The scope of work included:
» Hot-tap tie in (Spherical Tee) to existing Line 364
» Installation of approximately 2 miles of 12-inch pipe
» Installation of one skidded Launcher
» Installation of M&R station with skidded Receiver
» Hot-tap tie in (Spherical Tee) to existing natural gas main
» Pipeline cathodic protection

Consumers Energy Saginaw Trail

This project included installation of 30 miles of new 24” mainline pipe. Our crews self-performed:

» Grading
» Stringing
» Engineering
» Bending
» Dig/lay
» Jack and bore
» Pipe gang
» Firing line
» Coating
» Testing
» Tie-ins

Work was performed in a congested residential area that included multiple backyards with limited yard space along with several main road and power line corridor crossings. In addition to construction, we self-performed project clean up and restoration.

Pipeline Integrity Services in Southern California

We managed the upgrade and modernization of natural gas pipelines in a major metropolitan area in Southern California, including replacing existing and strength-testing new pipes.

The project included the installation of six miles of 16” natural gas transmission line, one main line valve assembly, three regulator stations, and an accompanying fiber optics line. Safety features included upgrading thicker steel, a warning mesh above the pipeline to prevent accidental excavations, automatic shut-off valves, and fiber optic technology to detect ground disturbances that could affect pipeline integrity.
